Day 21 - Finally an Appointment at Duke University Hospital

Spent yesterday on the phone with numerous healthcare organizations from Wilmington to Durham trying to get an appointment for a biopsy. Honestly when I moved here, I thought I had plenty of time to find a new primary care physician but those plans obviously changed. Found one that was highly recommended but the first available appointment was not until October! I think that is a bit far in the future for me at this point. Duke finally contacted me early this morning and I am now scheduled for a 3D CT on May 15 so they can figure out which biopsy would be best (I do not know what a 3D CT is but maybe similar to the new 3D sonograms for babies? Something to google)

I started a list of questions to ask the doctor when I see him. I know we are always discouraged from googling anything medical as it can scare the pants off of you but we always do, don't we? Anyway, I heard of this new procedure called "Biomarker". According to Fightcancer.com, Biomarker testing helps ensure cancer patients get the right treatment at the right time. It allows doctors to precisely target a specific cancer so patients may not have to undergo more generalized treatments like chemo and radiation that may not work as well for them. Something definitely to ask about.

On a happier note, today is the day I finally get my garage flooring done. I went with the Polyurea Floor Coating instead of Epoxy. It is supposed to be more durable and flexible. It will be nice to finally finish my garage as the storage space when you downsize is very minimal. Even though I must have thrown away, donated or sold 1/2 of what I owned before I moved, I still cannot fit everything I have left in the limited storage that I have. Yep, I did have to rent a storage unit! Hoping one day I can eliminate that but for now, it works for me.

My Aunt (who is also my lovely Godmother) is planning on coming to stay with me today for a few days. I was so looking forward to her visit but she text me this morning saying she might have a cold and is going to go to the Urgent Care first before heading my way. What a kind and loving person she is, thinking of me and not wanting to get me sick. It would be great to spend some time with her and show her my new home but I do appreciate her thinking of me and my health at this point. That brings up another important question to ask the doctors. Do I need to limit exposure to people? What happens if I get COVID for the 7th time (yes, I have had it 6 times and am fully vaccinated). Now this does make me think was there even a point for me to get vaccinated since I have contracted it so many times AND could this be why I am sick? I know vaccines and COVID are controversial so anyone who doesn't want to hear my thoughts can close down the page but do we really know anything about COVID or the vaccine side effects? I don't think we will for many years down the road.
